DESCRIPTION- Students produce a campaign “piece” using web 2.0 tools and Discovery Streaming for each of the two presidential candidates. DE videos will be used to introduce the concepts, followed by discussions on Presidential Elections, rights and responsibilities of citizenship, and political campaigns.

Back Your Candidate

STEP 1: Students will watch embedded videos downloaded from DE Streaming. STEP 2: Students will choose partners or form groups to create a campaign piece for one of the candidates.

BLABBERIZE THE CANDIDATES 1. Students will write a persuasive speech from the perspective of their chosen candidate. 2. Students will draw a picture of the candidate’s face or use one of the attached photos. 3. Using Blabberize, students will record their speech.

THE CANDIDATES IN 30 SECONDS 1.View videos created by the public for a contest on Moveon.org called “Obama in 30 Seconds.” 2.Students will then choose to support Barack Obama or John McCain and create 30 second political ads to support their candidate using the media of their choice.
